Eco-Friendly Mobile From Motorola

The world’s first carbon neutral cell phone has been launched by Motorola, which tackles the major problem of e-waste. The Renew W233, is the model designed by Motorola, which is a carbon neutral mobile and it is to be the first certified by Carbon free cell phone on the market with 100% recyclable housing made from recycled water bottles. A report say that about 426,000 cell phones are getting retired every single day in the United States, which are mostly dumped in the landfills. That is definitely a huge amount of waste, and this e-wastes kills about thousands of poor residents in developing countries where these e-wastes are being dumped. The features of Motorola Renew W233 cellphone is admirable because of its sustainable features which addresses directly the phone’s carbon footprint and life cycle. In collaboration with Carbonfund.org, Motorola gets the energy to manufacture, distribute, and operate the phone by investing in renewable energy sources and reforestation. Once the life cycle of the phone comes to an end, it is easily recycled by placing it in a prepaid envelope, which is provided along with the box. Moreover, the phone’s packaging consumes 22% less material and the manual is printed on post consumer recycled paper with soy-based inks. The companies should begin to think about, where their products will end up once their conventional usage is completed. After all, how can we as consumers be responsible for properly disposing of such items. It’s very nice, that this phone has a recyclable housing, and it’s commendable step forward for Motorola, but we should start demanding the manufacturers to take entire responsibility for all parts of their products. Otherwise, accumulation of these toxic e-wastes will never come to an end.
Google Maps Detects Global Warming

Want to know which country is in the worst place of emitting Greenhouse gases, just we can see it for ourself on the Google Map,which is created by U.N and Google. This map shows the emissions and changes that had taken place from the year 1990 to the year 2006. The color Green indicates that, it is good and decrease in the emissions, and The purple color indicates that, it is bad and there is a frequent increase in the emission.Sweden,is on the top list of the worst offenders and it has increased the emission of the Greenhouse gases over that time by 110 percent. Next member on the list is Turkey with a increase of 103 percent, and Canada with a increase of 55 percent.First,I thought that U.S would be on the top of the list but it is only at the tenth place in the list with a increase in 14 percent.I am exicited to see that Russia is far better than any other developed country. But, I am annoyed to see that Canada has become worser than U.S. The map lets us to know more about the data.We can sort the emissions by the type of industry, type of emission and which Greenhouse gas is responsible (CO2, CH4, N2O, etc), or year, just a click on a country gives us the full detail and the resposible sectors for the emission in such a high level. From 1990 to 2006, Russia had seen a decrease around 29 percent in emissions, but, if we take a look at just the end of 2006, Russia has started getting purple and it rises as a worst emitter with No.3 in the list. And as we thought before,U.S becomes the NO.1 worst emitter of Greenhouse gases in the world.I don’t know whether this application of Google is really working for finding the data’s regarding Global warming.Anyway,I am not sure of it.
Google Increases Its Newspaper Archives
On The Google News blog a short post revealed a big number. The number of newspaper articles has been quadrupled recently by Google in itts News Archive Search. When you recall in the Google News last yesr,a powerful news tool which can search the text of publications far back, even some 200 years old..Google has added a bunch of new publications, which includes some news from all parts of the world. The Newspaper archives starts from 1753 now.A important fact is that it’s searchable is fairly insane.Google has launched wit millions of seachable artcles,so we know now that it has million times four,as Google doesn’t give any exact number. The book scanning efforts are very impressive in their size and scope, but book scanning is not without controversy. The primary reason why Google cares about archiving old publications is not just for information, but for the purpose of selling contextual Adsense ads against them. When you look at a article about a volcano eruption from Manila Standard,a ad to get an emergency management degree is featured.
