Google Nexus One

This morning saw the launch of Google’s highly anticipated Nexus One “superphone”. During the demonstration, Google showcased a variety of the phone’s features, including a very impressive new photo app, voice input, and more. They’ve now posted a handful of videos showing off each of these features, which we’ve embedded below. The most impressive video of the bunch is called Web Meets Phone. It’s sleek, stylish, and has catchy music — and was clearly inspired by Apple’s hugely successful iPhone ads. Google’s video weighs in at a hefy 1 minute 54 seconds, which obviously makes it long for your average TV commercial. Still, given the production values of the clip, I wouldn’t be surprised if Google starts running a shorter version of this on TV. It may even splurge for a few extended showings. You can find more videos of the Nexus One YouTube Channel (note that most of the others are showing features that are available on other Android phones.

Eco-Friendly Mobile From Motorola

Motorola Renew W233

The world’s first carbon neutral cell phone has been launched by Motorola, which tackles the major problem of e-waste. The Renew W233, is the model designed by Motorola, which is a carbon neutral mobile and it is to be the first certified by Carbon free cell phone on the market with 100% recyclable housing made from recycled water bottles. A report say that about 426,000 cell phones are getting retired every single day in the United States, which are mostly dumped in the landfills. That is definitely a huge amount of waste, and this e-wastes kills about thousands of poor residents in developing countries where these e-wastes are being dumped. The features of Motorola Renew W233 cellphone is admirable because of its sustainable features which addresses directly the phone’s carbon footprint and life cycle. In collaboration with Carbonfund.org, Motorola gets the energy to manufacture, distribute, and operate the phone by investing in renewable energy sources and reforestation. Once the life cycle of the phone comes to an end, it is easily recycled by placing it in a prepaid envelope, which is provided along with the box. Moreover, the phone’s packaging consumes 22% less material and the manual is printed on post consumer recycled paper with soy-based inks. The companies should begin to think about, where their products will end up once their conventional usage is completed. After all, how can we as consumers be responsible for properly disposing of such items. It’s very nice, that this phone has a recyclable housing, and it’s commendable step forward for Motorola, but we should start demanding the manufacturers to take entire responsibility for all parts of their products. Otherwise, accumulation of these toxic e-wastes will never come to an end.

iPhone 3GS Playing 1080p Video

Recently, I heared  a news from a Chinese forum, that iPhone 3GS is perfectly capable of playing  720p and 1080p video, when it is encoded with H.264; But,the playback resolution had currently been limited to 640×480 by Apple,I don’t know why Apple artificially limits the resolution that can be played.May be, battery will get depleted so quickly when we play a 1080p video. But, A forum goer came out of Apple’s restriction himself, by playing a 1080p video at 30Mbps.A Mac book, would really scream in horror, if anyone tries to play a 30mpbs video on it,even when Plex is used. So,I do say that it is possible technically to play a “Full HD” on any iPhone GS. It is probably a overkill of watching such kind of videos on our iPhone.May be, one day, Apple would release an adapter that allows us to output a 1080p video from our phone  onto an HDTV. So, for the duration of that playback keep your iPhones plugged now itself, eventhough it’s  not exactly going to be elegant.

Google I/O Conference Gift

Google I/O conference was held two months ago ,the shocking news for me was that those who have attended the conference were gifted with a free Android phone .The Android phone given to everyone who attended the conference was a HTC Magic or otherwise called as “G2”.Are you worried that you did’nt attendit.Ok, i have a good news for you but it might cost you as this is available on eBay ,but it seems to take another few months to happen .In a very short span of time the bidding started, it went up to 8 bids, pushing the price to $200.Another interesting thing is the phone comes with a T-Mobile service which is free for a month, which is given for Google for all conference goers, and the bid was expected to go much higher. The pictures taken in Moscone West, the place were Google I/O conference took place were listed for the device on eBay,this shows that it is a real deal.A important thing is that the device has a Spiffy I/O logo on its back, which makes it worthy for another $50.Atlast the price went more than a triple and sold for $760 which is not bad for a gift.
